Steven Sam holds a Bachelor and Master’s degree in Communication and International Development Studies from Roskilde University, Denmark. Sam has a strong passion for development communication practices and the integration of digital technology and modern communication practices in delivering specific development goals such as, poverty reduction, social change, empowerment, disaster management, and health awareness campaign etc. He is currently a PhD Candidate at the Centre for Communication and Social Change, University of Queensland, Australia. His PhD attempts to link participatory communication and information diffusion practices with research into new media and its impact on sustainable development and poverty reduction. This involves a specific focus on mobile phone use in the context of communication, information diffusion and its ramification on social change, empowerment and the transformation of the lives of marginalised youth in Sierra Leone.
