About me

I am Krishnamurthi, a graduate in Agricultural Sciences, and post graduate in Psychology. I am presently leading Centre for Development Communication in DHAN Foundation. I have about 16 years of experience in development work. I am promoting information and communication as a tool for development by designing communication packages for enhancing field action and facilitating policy advocacy in the thematic interventions of DHAN Foundation. I am guiding professional teams involved in audio visual production and dissemination, publication, promotion of websites and media relations within the Centre. I have played a key role in producing a number of documentaries on development, publications on grassroots interventions and impacts, IEC materials on concepts and practices. I am currently engaged in promoting community owned and managed media centres with a mixed model of ICT based village information centres, community radio and community video in the villages of South India. As a member in the network of various development communication initiatives in the country I am supporting community media initiatives. Also I am anchoring Development Film Festival organised every year at Madurai. I am teaching courses-Communication with Communities, Communication for Development and Documentary Filmmaking. Areas of my interest are alternative media, development journalism and campaigning on development issues.
