FCCMreportRural communication policies can translate farmers’ right to communication into fair and transparent regulatory frameworks that will allow equitable access to information and communication services in rural areas. This report presents the results of the Forum on Communication and Community Media for Family Farming (FCCM) convened in 2014. Participants addressed opportunities for promoting rural communication services as sustained, inclusive and efficient communication processes involving family farmers and the rural population, and considered how to better integrate these services into agricultural policies.

FFarmingPrepared as an input for the Forum on Communication and Community Media for Family Farming (FCCM), this document explores how communication for development (ComDev) approaches and community media can be successfully applied to support family farming.

It provides numerous examples of ComDev applied to smallholder farming and rural development and the issues that they encompass: food security, natural resource management, rural livelihoods, agricultural innovation, and capacity development.
